I feel humbled to be part of this site as a Punk on the Rise. I think that’s where I am, on the rise.

At first I was going to pass on the entry because I’m still getting the hang of blogging, especially on food and drinks. I can talk about them all day, that's the easy part. Writing about food and drinks can be a challenge but it's a fun challenge.

I made this recipe to share with my fellow writers. I wanted something sweet but sophisticated. I wanted something that Stephen King would drink and say, “Girl, you kick ass." I'm weird like that.

I also wanted to make something that reflected a part of me. My name is Ricci. I know when you read that, you thought ‘Richie’ or ‘Ricki’. No, it’s pronounced ‘Reese’, just like the candy. With this drink you’ll always remember that.

This is for those days when everyone gets home in a foul mood and you need to take the edge off.

I introduce to you, Ricci’s After School Snack:

1 oz Bailey’s Salted Caramel

1 oz Frangelico

1 oz Kahlua

2 oz Banana Rum

Milk

In a mixing tin, add ice and ingredients. Shake vigorously and strain into a hurricane glass. Garnish with a sliced banana.

You’re Welcome.

Ricci is a single mom of three, they are her crew. When Ricci's not being mom, entrepreneur or playing on Facebook, she's studying for her Bachelor’s in Creative Writing or auditioning for acting gigs. Her blog, "A Shot of Common Sense," is a cocktail of food and beverage recipes, spritzed with some sass. She can be found in the kitchen, honing her talents for the restaurant she will one day open.
