1. Excitement-“I’m going to write! I’m so ready to write. This is it.I’m just going to sit here and let all the words flow onto the page! The next Great American Novel is about to be written, baby! The page is blank, ready for my words!! The world is my oyster!”

2. Fear- Laptop is open. Blank screen before you.You stare at it. That blank page goes from being an oyster moments ago to a horny devil little bitch, taunting you.“You’ve got nothing to wriii-iitteee- you’ve got nothing good to say, neener neener neeeeeener.”

3. Anger- Fuck you, blank page.I’m going to get a glass of wine. That will help get my creative juices flowing and calm down the voices on my page.

4. Distracted- I’ll just sit here with my wine and look at some webpages for inspiration.I’m sure something will come to me…..

5. Disappointment- You glance at the time.An hour has gone by.You’ve looked at every social media site, checked out the Macy’s online sale and paid a few bills. No inspiration has come, except an idea for dinner tonight on Pinterest.

6. Frustration- I will write. I will write something dammit. You type two paragraphs and then angrily hold down the delete button until all the words are gone because they are crap! Absolute crap! And you can’t bear to look at them any longer

7. Thirst- more wine, please!

8. Hope- After three more glasses, the paragraphs you had written earlier don’t seem so awful. Maybe they weren’t so awful if only you tweak a word or two here or there.

9. Amnesia- Why can’t I remember what I wrote in those two paragraphs???

10. Regret- What the hell is wrong with you? You do this every time! You always think your writing is crap and then you delete it and then you get mad at yourself. Why do you DO that?

11. Parchedness- So thirsty, so, so thirsty.Must find more wine.

12. Social- I’m a little buzzed, let me just go see what my friends are doing on Facebook….

13. Rejuvenated – After a little break from your writing, you’re ready to take a crack at your blank page again.

14. Inspired –Maybe it’s the wine typing but the words start to flow on the page as fast as the decanter can pour the good stuff into your glass. You write and you write and finally it doesn’t all feel like crap.

15. Accomplished- You finish your last sentence and look at the page filled with words- your words! Mostly not crappy words! An achievement indeed.

16. Insecure- You realize you should post your work. You need to hit submit. But what if it all crap? What if it stinks? It probably stinks. You probably shouldn’t post that.

17. Dehydrated-You take one more sip of wine because you’re feeling extra dehydrated and force yourself to post your work.

18. Anxious- Angst sets in.You nervously pace around waiting for one person to “like” your post, to comment on your work, to tell you in some small way that your piece isn’t crap. You pace. You pace some more. You refresh your screen again and again.

19. Validated – Someone has “liked” your post! Someone likes it!It’s not crap! It’s really not crap.At least one person thinks I don’t deserve to have my fingers chopped off so I can never type again!

20. Relieved- You wish you could say you were thrilled and happy with the results of your writing, but really you’re just relieved that it’s over. You call it a night and wait until the next time you feel “excited” to write again.

Tracy has always loved telling funny stories; she currently logs her rants on her humor blog, "Tracy on the Rocks," which was a 2014 finalist for "Most Humorous Web Blog" in the popular Web Blog awards, the Bloggies. She has also been featured on BlogHer multiple times.

Tracy has an unhealthy obsession with firefighters, hotdogs, and anything pink. Her favorite thing to do- besides drink wine- is laugh until her stomach hurts (which doesn't take much, considering how much she also hates working out). She resides in San Diego and her biggest accomplishment to date is being the World's Best Auntie, according to those who matter!
